RULES / CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

  • Athletes must be members of an affiliated club to qualify as Category Winner.
  • Club athletes dressed in club colours, must wear an official ASA 2020 licence number on the front and back of their vest
  • Temporary number to be warn on front of vest
  • Age restriction:  Min age 42,2km (20years +) , 21,1km (16years +) , 10km (14years)
  • All marshals, traffic officials & traffic rules must be obeyed, failing to do so may lead to disqualification
  • Check points on route. (Keep left at all times). In case of emergency report to the next water point.
  • All wakers and runners take part at their own risk
  • Due to the nature of the course no wheelchairs, prams, blades, animals, cyclist or mechanically operated devices are allowed, excluding hearing aids
  • Age category tags must be warn on the front & back to qualify as category winner.
  • Entry form/ Online entry must be completed in full, if not, athlete will be disqualified from the race and will not receive a Medal or Prize Money. Category winners must wear club kit at Prize Giving
  • An emergency number for family member must be completed
  • Proof of age must be provided on race day if required(ID book /Passport)
  • The organisers reserve the right to return any entry not keeping with the spirit of the race.
  • All winners need to attend the prize giving, failing to comply with this will result in a forfeit of incentives
  • The decision of the organisation will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Foreign athletes competing for prize money must produce a clearance certificate from their national bodies to compete in RSA, handed in to the organisers before entering the race.
  • Race Walkers need to wear their tag – W – if competing for prize money.

 

  • Environmental rule 28 – Participants must take responsibility for their actions when disposing of litter, it can lead to disqualification
  • The race is run according to the rules of IAAF and ASA and AFS

LIABILITY

  • The organizers, sponsors, volunteers and event personnel are not responsible for any injury or damage that may occur during the event, or cancellations, delays or re-routing due to environmental concerns. Each participant will be required to sign a waiver upon registration declaring that they take full responsibility for, risk of injury, to themselves to their equipment and any lost or stolen items.

BASIC RACING RULES & ETIQUETTE

  • Runners must complete the entire distance of the race, and the responsibility for following the official route lies with the runner.
  • A runner is not permitted to take any shortcuts or take other advantage of a similar nature against competitors.
  • Runners, who exit the route of the course for any reason, must return to the course at the exact same point from which they exited.
  • Any walking or running by a runner, which is carried out without the intention of directly re-joining the course, or other activity in breach of the regulations, which takes place outside of the marked course area, can result in disqualification.
  • A runner cannot receive any technical assistance along the course from anybody.
  • Runners must respect the environment and only discard litter in the designated zones on the official route.

RACE TIMING

  • Runners have to report to the start line at least 30min before the start of their race.
  • Runners will be briefed 15min before the start. In case of batches riders will be briefed before the start of each batch.
  • The start line will remain open for 15 minutes after the start “gun”.
  • Timing will start with the start “gun”.
  • Each runner will have an electronic timing chip attached to the back of your event race number. Removing this chip will result in NO TIME and Disqualification. 
  • Runners that do not reach designated cut-off points in time will be prevented from continuing to run and will be swept from the course and classified as DNF (did not finish).
  • Cut-off points can be enforced at any time if the organisers deem the situation as unsafe.
